Bold claim: the night's biggest twist is a brand-new AAA John Wick game, crafted by the studio behind Space Marine 2.
Dog of war.
There were plenty of expected reveals at this evening’s PlayStation State of Play—for instance, I thought we might see a Resident Evil Requiem demo (I’m not annoyed we don’t have one yet, and you shouldn’t be either). But one surprise none of us had on the bingo card was a John Wick game. And that’s exactly what we got.
The upcoming John Wick game is a collaboration between Saber Interactive, Lionsgate, and franchise director Chad Stahelski. It will feature an original script set within the John Wick timeline, designed to expand the franchise’s intricate lore with familiar characters fans already know and with entirely new ones.
In terms of combat, expect a distinctive gun-fu system, paired with jaw-dropping camerawork, immersive driving sequences, and a variety of memorable environments. The goal is to make players feel like they’re stepping into a John Wick movie and embodying John Wick himself. And yes, Keanu Reeves is on board to reprise his iconic look, voice, and more. In other words, Eats, shoots, and Reeves!
If you’d like to see the announcement trailer, you can watch it below.
The John Wick game is being developed for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
